Sometimes, I think people see my success and think I have some sort of golden ticket or secret in my It Works business. That is NOT the case.
I have been a work from home mama for almost a year, and as much as I love what I do and where I am doesn’t mean it’s always been easy. For a long time, I wasn’t telling my full story to anyone or about how I got here. A 21 year old mother and college drop out.
A couple years ago, I was in a situation at home where my instinct was to flee so I ran away from home. I love my parents so much and as heartbroken as I was at my decision, I had to live with the decision I made. I moved in with my boyfriend Cameron (who is now my husband) and we lived in his bedroom in his mother and father’s home. I had just gotten a job at a new restaurant as a waitress and was a full-time college student.
About 3 months after moving in with Cameron, I found out I was pregnant. I was excited yet was disappointed in myself for not having children the way I had intended my entire life. Thankfully, I had an amazing support system and I knew without a doubt, Cameron would be an amazing father despite the long, hard journey we had before us.
When I was about 5 months pregnant, I lost my job – the restaurant shut down, I had to sell my car and I ended up dropping out of college because the long hours were sending me to the hospital and I could no longer physically handle it. I felt worthless. I felt like I wasn’t enough and I surely wasn’t enough for my son who was about to be born. I had hit an all time low and my stress levels were through the roof.
By the grace of God, I got another job that accommodated my pregnancy and we ended up inheriting a house and moved in ONE WEEK before Sawyer was born. This mama was stressed to the max but happy to have a home of our own.
Once Sawyer made his appearance, I knew I was meant to be a stay at home mommy – but didn’t know if we would financially be able to do so. I knew that working part time would only cover childcare expenses so either way – we would have no extra income coming into the home. Cameron and I decided together that we wanted me to stay home and raise Sawyer. As much as I loved it, I felt this overwhelming guilt every evening when Cameron came home from work and felt as if I wasn’t pulling my weight. I had always worked since the day I turned 16 and to just sit and watch him stress about everything KILLED me.
When Sawyer was 2 months old, we realized that my staying at home wasn’t cutting it and I needed to find another job. I began praying that something would come along and allow me to stay at home at least a little longer. One day, I was on Instagram and got a follow request from Ingrid Campbell (who is and Ambassador Diamond and top income earner). I started seeing her posts about working from home and making a 6 figure income. Right then, I stopped and KNEW that I was meant to do this. I emailed her requesting more info and she told me it would cost $99 to start up. I didn’t have the money but she helped me presell the wraps that come in the kit. I had them sold within 30 minutes. I was SO determined to make this work and to have an extra income for my family.
As soon as I signed up, I hit the ground running and have been running ever since. I have paid for mine and Cameron’s wedding. I have helped pay the bills every single month. Paid for Sawyer’s birthday party. Paid for Sawyer’s Christmas gifts. I have allowed my family to breath again and I’m not stopping here!
You don’t have to have any sales experience or a college degree, you just have to have a lot of faith and determination. If I can make my mess into a success, so can you. I am here to run with you and to help you make your dreams become a reality if you want me to. Don’t cry yourself to sleep like I did over your guilt. Show your family how much you love them by making this work for you. The only way to fail is to quit.
